Description. Total length 4.0– 4.7 mm, standard length 3.8–4.5 mm; body elongate subovate ( Fig. 21 View Figs ); integument black, scales white (occasionally light yellow), dorsal scales setiform and raised by approximately 40 °, ventral scales wider and appressed; rostrum rather slender, more curved basally than distally, laterally compressed in distal half, male 1.16–1.22X length of pronotum, female 1.14–1.18X length of pronotum, anteantennal portion of male 0.50– 0.51X length of rostrum, of female 0.53–0.55X length of rostrum, without tubercle on submentum, first desmomere 1.5X longer than second; pronotum with greatest width at base, sides roundly narrowed toward front, apical constriction with deep punctures and high ridges, dorsal punctation confluent and forming longitudinal ridges; prosternum with deep pit and pair of moderately slender, usually slightly curved spines in male, female with prosternal pit; elytral interstriae with 1–3 irregular rows of suberect, setiform scales; all legs with ventrodistal tibial spine; body of aedeagus moderately compressed dorsoventrally, dorsal aspect as in Fig. 59 View Figs , internal sac much longer than apodemes, flagellum almost twice as long as aedeagus, base of flagellum with hammer-shaped appendix.
Distribution. The species is known from central Mexico and extends into southern Arizona ( Fig. 73 View Figs ).
Temporal occurrence. July to August.
Plant associations. Unknown.
Specific epithet. The name is a regular Latin adjective and is used to denote the wrinkled surface of the pronotum.
Note. The specimen collected in southern Arizona by G. H. Nelson is, so far, the only United States record of G. pannuceus . As this species has also been found in Chihuahua, I consider it as native to the United States.
