Diagnosis. Arctigalloisiana poropnetopa sp. nov. can be distinguished from A. yezoensis by a relatively long ovipositor (see Keys to species), and from A. yubariensis sp. nov. by a relatively long third antennomere ( Fig. 7E View Fig ): Ant3L/Ant2L more than 1.50 in A. poropnetopa sp. nov., but less than 1.50 in A. yubariensis sp. nov.
Type material. Holotype female ( B2-407746 , MNHAH), a tributary of Niobetsu River (elev. 400m), Kineusu , Urakawa Town, Southern part of Mt. Hidaka , Hokkaido, 15-V-2013, M. Komazawa leg. Paratype: 1 female (B2-407745, MNHAH), same data as in the holotype .
Non-type material. 1female (B2-407756), Biratori Town, Northern part of Mt. Hidaka , Hokkaido, 10-X-2010, N. Ogawa leg. 1 female (B2- 407747, MNHAH), Chiroro forest road (elev. 700m), Hidaka Town, Northern part of Mt. Hidaka , Hokkaido, 13-VII-2013, M. Komazawa leg.
Measurements. Head length 3.00–3.20; width 3.30–3.55. Eye length 0.50–0.53; width 0.23–0.31. Interorbital distance 3.00–3.06. Antennomere length I, 0.58; II, 0.25; III, 0.38–0.46. Pronotum length 3.15–3.45; width 3.00–3.20.
Female ( Figs. 3C View Fig , 7A–G View Fig ). Antennomere number on right antennae 30–33 and on left antennae 29–34; third antennomere longer than second one, Ant3L/Ant2L more than 1.50. Compound eyes well-developed, black. Interocular distance almost as long as, or slightly smaller than pronotum width. Head shorter than wide. Pronotum longer than wide, square-shaped with convex posterior edge; transverse sulcus at anterior margin convex. Ventral valve 1.1 to 1.4 times longer than pronotum, almost straight. Dorsal valve slender, around 1.3 to 1.5 times longer than pronotum, and almost straight with distal part slightly curved downward.
Male. Unknown.
Etymology. The specific name is derived from a Hokkaido-Ainu word, Porop-netopa (a large body, viz., a brown bear; Chiri 1976), referring to the large body-size of this species. The specific name is thus treated as indeclinable.
