Type species. Galloisiana yezoensis Asahina, 1961 .

Diagnosis. Arctigalloisiana gen. nov. is very close to Galloisiana , but can be distinguished from the latter by a macrotrichia-less margin of the cervical sclerite ( Figs. 4D View Fig , 5D View Fig and 7D View Fig , 8D View Fig ), one pair of setae on the postmentum ( Figs. 4C View Fig , 5C View Fig and 7C View Fig , 8C View Fig ), and poorly developed tarsal pulvillus ( Fig. 4F View Fig ).

Description. Antennomere number varying from 28 to 34. Third antennomere relatively short (Ant3L/Ant2L 1.2–1.7). Compound eye black. Lacinia with two teeth. Postmentum with a pair of setae. Outer margin of cervical sclerite without macrotrichiae. Pronotum with convex posterior margin; transverse sulcus at anterior margin convex or sometime straight. Cercal nine or ten segmented; length of each segment not stable among individuals. Ovipositor long, from 1.1 to 1.5 times longer than pronotum.

Etymology. The generic name is a compound noun derived from the Latin word, Arctus (Ursa Major/Minor = north; from αρκτος), and Galloisiana (feminine), referring to the fact that this genus is endemic to Hokkaido, which is the northernmost main island in the Japanese Archipelago.

Species included. Arctigalloisiana yezoensis comb. nov., A. poropnetopa sp. nov., A. yubariensis sp. nov.

Remarks. Schoville et al. (2013) shows a result in which the clade of “ Galloisiana ” yezoensis is separated from another Galloisiana clade including the type species, Galloisina nipponensis . Our phylogenetic tree also supports the independence of “ Galloisiana ” yezoensis . Here we establish a new genus, Arctigalloisiana gen. nov., for “ Galloisiana ” yezoensis and its relatives.
