Liaghinella Wygodzinsky, 1966 View in CoL
Liaghinella Wygodzinsky, 1966: 523 View in CoL [description]; Maldonado, 1990: 134 [catalog].
Type species: Liaghinella farri Wygodzinsky, 1966 (by original designation).
Wygodzinsky (1966) considered as diagnostic for Liaghinella the following characters: fore leg with onesegmented heavily sclerotized tarsus; first process of posteroventral series inserted at the base of the femur; short thoracic nota, and relatively stout body. The new species described below also shares with L. farri the following: head and thorax granulated with numerous setiferous tubercles; scapus curved in dorsal view; mesonotum constricted anteriorly; metafemur distinctly curved in dorsal view; and abdomen with the lateral margins projecting posteriorly as small tubercles. Additionally, it must be noted that the anteroventral series of the profemur may vary from setae intermixed with spiniform tubercles, to solely spiniform setae as discussed below.
