Distribution. WesternAtlantic—USA (North Carolina, Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil (Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul) ( Rathbun 1918; Coelho & Ramos 1972; Powers 1977; Takeda 1983; Williams 1984; Soto 1985; Abele & Kim 1986; Bordin 1987; Melo et al. 1989; Souza 1997; Felder et al. 2009; Melo 2010; Castro & Ng 2010).

Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo state include Santos and Ubatuba ( Castro & Ng 2010). Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 5872—16S ( MT075940 ), COI ( MT623337 ) (present study).
