Pilumnus vinaceus Rathbun, 1898: 283 View in CoL , pl. L, fig. 2.
Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♀ ov, CCDB 5382 View Materials , Ubatuba, Praia do Itaguá , colls. F. Mantelatto et al., 17.x.2012 ; 1 ♀, CCDB 4598 View Materials , Ubatuba, Praia do Itaguá , colls. F. Mantelatto & L. Pardo, 15.ix.2008 .
Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Texas, Florida), Caribbean Sea, Antilles, and Brazil (Piauí, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina) (Magalhães & Mantelatto in prep.).
Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ubatuba (Bertini et al. 2004; Alves et al. 2012b as Pilumnus dasypodus ). This species was previously reported as P. dasypodus (Magalhães & Mantelatto in prep). However, these authors suggested the resurrection of Pilumnus vinaceus , previously synonymized to P. dasypodus Kingsley, 1879 based on molecular and morphological data (including type specimens). Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 5382—16S ( MF504075 View Materials ; MT075941 View Materials ), COI ( MF 504148 View Materials ) ( Mantelatto et al. 2018a).
