Description. Female. Small size, short. Body interspersed with granules and sparse tubercles.

Head and eyes a little exserted above pronotal surface. In dorsal view, vertex very strongly narrowed toward the front drawing the eyes together and in front forming an acute arched shape, anterior margin of fastigium not surpassing anterior margin of eye, fastigium of vertex between eyes 0.5‒0.6 times width of an eye; median carina visible anteriorly; fossula deep; lateral margins of vertex produced upwards and elevated to level of upper margin of compound eye. In lateral view, the whole of frontal ridge nearly straight and visible between eyes. In frontal view, vertex forming V-shaped concavity on each side of median carina; frontal costa bifurcated above lateral carinae, scutellum (longitudinal furrow) widely forked between antennae, the rami strongly divergent, width of longitudinal furrow of frontal ridge 1.6–1.8 times antennal groove diameter. Antennae long, filiform, antennal grooves inserted below inferior margin of compound eyes, 15-segmented, the 10th and 11th segment are the longest, about 6–7 times longer than its width. Eyes globose, lateral (paired) ocelli located lowest third of compound eye height.

Pronotum wide and short, in dorsal view dorsum of pronotum slightly rough, slightly swell between the shoulders, both sides of median carina behind the shoulder are concave, posterior half with netted keels and notchs. Pronotum with straight anterior margin, upper margin of pronotum in profile nearly straight, median carina entire; lateral carinae of prozona nearly parallel; humeral angle obtuse-arched, with interhumeral carinae; hind pronotal process wide, not reaching apex of hind femur and its apex narrowly rounded. Lower margin of hind process curved, lateral carinae of metazona curved too, width of the area between the two is 0.8 mm. Posterior angles of lateral lobes produced outwards, end of posterior angles slightly truncate or obtuse-rounded, posterior margins of lateral lobes of pronotum only with ventral sinus. Tegmina and hind wings absent.

Legs. Fore and middle femora slightly compressed, margins finely serrated, with carinated and slightly undulated ventral margins. Hind femora robust and short, 2.6 times as long as wide; with carinated and smooth dorsal and ventral margins. antegenicular denticles right angle and genicular denticles acute. Outer side of hind tibia with 6–7 spines, inner side with 5–6 spines. Length of first segment of posterior tarsi slightly longer than third, three pulvilli of first segment of posterior tarsi nearly equal in length, apex right angle.

Abdomen. Ovipositor narrow and long, length of upper valvulae four times its width, upper and lower valvulae with slender saw-like teeth. Length of subgenital plate nearly equal to its width, middle of posterior margin of subgenital plate slightly triangular projecting or slightly straight.

Coloration. Body brown or dark brown; antennae dark brown, terminal segment black. Hind femur brown or dark brown, some individuals have two light colour in the outer side. Hind tibia dark brown, with two light ring in the middle.

Male. Similar to female, but smaller and narrower. Subgenital plate short, cone-shaped, apex bifurcated.

Measurements (mm). Length of body: ♂ 6.8–7.2, ♀ 8.0–8.5; length of pronotum: ♂ 5.1–5.3, ♀ 6.0–6.5; length of hind femur: ♂ 4.4–4.7, ♀ 4.5–5.0.

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from “ strict ” and “ vertex ”, meaning vertex very narrow, fastigium of vertex between eyes 0.5‒0.6 times width of an eye.

Distribution. P. R. CHINA: Hainan.
