Description. Holotype, female.
MEASUREMENTS. Body length 5 mm, fore wing length 4 mm.
BODY. Matt and clothed with setae ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ).
HEAD. Antenna 1.3 × length of fore wing, with 30 flagellomeres without white subapical band ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Scape 1.5 × as long as broad ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ). First flagellomere 1.3 × longer than second and 1.4 × longer than third. Head roundly narrowed behind eyes, its width 1.55 × its length ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 ). Inner margins of eyes slightly converging ventrally ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ). Lateral ocellus separated from eye margin by 2.5 × its widest diameter. Frons shagreened, not punctate. Antennal sockets lifted slightly above frons in profile ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Anterior tentorial pit distinct and deep ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ). Clypeus 0.5 × as high as wide, separated from face by distinct impression, distinctly densely clothed with setae ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ), in profile flat ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Its margin sharp, medially concave, laterally produced as small lobes, medially with a dense apical fringe of short, parallel, ventrally directed setae ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ). Mandible strongly widened apically, crescent-shaped, its dorsal tooth hidden when the mandible is closed ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ), its ventral tooth twisted anteriorly, distinctly longer than dorsal tooth ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ). Malar space almost as long as basal mandible width ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ).
MESOSOMA. Pronotum elongate, dimly shining, with slight transverse striation ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Epomia distinct ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Mesopleuron dimly shining, sparsely setose, with dense rough punctures, shagreened, and striated in its lower part ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Mesoscutum weakly shining, sparsely setose, impunctate, with lateral carina ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Notauli strong. Scutellum not forming an apical tooth. Propodeum impunctate, with carinae complete ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Lateral longitudinal and posterior transverse carina not forming any tooth ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Area basalis distinctly defined, pentagonal, area superomedia 1.8 × its width ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Spiracle of propodeum closer to pleural longitudinal carinae, joined to the later by a transverse carina ( Figs 4 View FIGURE 4 , 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Length of hind femur 7.3 × its width centrally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Spurs of hind tibia almost equal. Fore wing vein 3rs-m absent, vein 2m-cu with two bullae, abscissa of CU longer than 2cu-a. Hind wing with distal abscissa of Rs, M, CU and AA absent, cu-a shorter than CU.
METASOMA. Smooth, impunctate. T1 length 4.3 × its posterior width ( Fig. 5D View FIGURE 5 ). Glymma absent, spiracle at 0.5 ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). S1 fused with T1. Ovipositor weakly upcurved, 1.1 × as long as apical height of metasoma, or 0.6 of T1 ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Ovipositor sheath upcurved.
COLORATION. Black, except the following which are marked with reddish-brown: antenna, face and metasoma; the following are marked with yellowish-red: basal flagellomeres, clypeus, mesosoma, legs except red hind coxa and femur; mandibles yellow except apically, palpi and tegula.
Male. Unknown.
Hosts. Unknown.
Distribution. Sichuan ( China).
Diagnosis. Atopotrophos chinensis can be distinguished from all other Atopotrophos spp. by the combination of: head roundly narrowed behind eyes (its width 1.55 × its length), face rather setose and matt, clypeal margin medially concave, malar space almost as long as basal mandible width, antenna entirely dark without white subapical flagellomeres.
