Harpalus roninus Bates, 1873: 260 View in CoL . Type locality: "Nagasaki", Japan.
Type material. Syntypes: 1 ♂, 1 ♀, labeled "Nagasaki" ( MNHN).
Additional material examined. More than 170 specimens (133 from China), including the following specimens from Jilin and Hubei. China. JILIN: 1 ♂, Changchun Co., 9.IX.1982, Mao Zenghua leg. ( IOZ). HUBEI: 1 ♀, Xinshan, 1300 m, 29.VII. 1980 m, Yu Peiyu leg. ( IOZ).
Diagnosis. This species is similar in external characters to H. ussuriensis , but distinctly differs from the latter in black legs. Internal sac of aedeagus ( Figs 22–23 View FIGURES 19 – 23 ) is armed with a small medial spiny patch on the left side of the median lobe and a separate medium-sized spine apically. Body length 16.9–20.1 mm.
Distribution. China: mainly in the north-eastern part. It was recorded from Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan ( Kataev et al. 2003), Jilin, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Taiwan ( Hua 2002). We provided here the additional material from Jilin and Hubei.
The species is also known from Eastern Russia (Buryatia, Amur Province, Khabarovsk and Maritime Territories), North and South Korea including Jejudo, and Japan (Honshu, Kyushu, and Tsushima Islands) ( Habu 1973; Lafer 1989; Kryzhanovskij et al. 1995; Kataev 1997; Kataev et al. 2003; Moon & Paik 2006).
