1. This is likely a misidentification of the similar species Gonia bimaculata Wiedemann , which is the only species of Gonia found on Malta.

2. Linnaemya soror is very similar to L. comta , was described more recently and is the species found on Malta.

3. Siphona variata was described and separated from S. confusa by Andersen (1982).

4. Hypovoria hilaris Villeneuve and Nanoplagia sinaica (Villeneuve) were mistakenly listed in El-Hawagry (2018) as present on Malta on the basis of the general geographic but unspecified country distribution that was given in O’Hara (2009). Neither species has been recorded from the Maltese Islands.
