Afrotropical: 1) Democratic Republic of the Congo, 2) Rwanda ( Elbl & Anastos 1966b).

Matthysse & Colbo (1987) proposed that Ixodes browningi is probably established in Uganda, despite not finding specimens there, and Kolonin (2009) included Uganda within the geographic distribution of Ixodes browningi . However, in the absence of records, we exclude Uganda from this species’ known range.
