Afrotropical: 1) Angola, 2) Central African Republic, 3) Congo, 4) Democratic Republic of the Congo, 5) S ã o Tomé and Príncipe ( Walker & Olwage 1987, Kolonin 2009, Uilenberg et al. 2013).
Hoogstraal (1956a) stated that the morphological separation of Amblyomma astrion from Amblyomma cohaerens and Amblyomma splendidum is sometimes difficult. Morel (2003) listed many records of Amblyomma astrion that had been confused with Amblyomma cohaerens . See also Amblyomma cohaerens for the provisional status of information on this species.
Matthysse & Colbo (1987) regarded records of Amblyomma astrion from Uganda as unconfirmed, and that country is provisionally excluded from its range.
