Parerigone brachyfurca Chao & Zhou in Chao, Sun & Zhou, 1990: 234. Holotype male (IZCAS). Type locality: China, Sichuan, Luding Co., Moxi (29.6°N 102.1°E), 1600 m.— Chao et al., 1998: 2167 ( China).— O’Hara et al., 2009: 132 (Chinese catalogue).— Shima, 2011: 677 (notes).

Diagnosis. Medium-sized flies with dense golden yellow or pale yellow gray white pruinosity. Vertex about 0.2 of head width; gena about 0.3 of eye height; parafacial slightly narrower than 1st flagellomere width at mid-height, the latter about 2.3–3 times as long as pedicel; palpus reddish yellow. Anatergite bare; thoracic dorsum with yellow and black hairs; pleura with yellow hairs; scutellum with 4 pairs of marginal setae; basicosta dark brown or black; legs black, tibia reddish brown on middle portions; mid tibia with 2 anterodorsal and 1 ventral setae. Abdomen with yellow hairs ventrally and laterally; mid-dorsal excavation of syntergite 1+2 extending to its anterior 2/3, tergites 3 with a row of marginal setae.

Type material examined. Holotype male, CHINA, Moxi (29.6°N 102.1°E), Luding Co., 1600 m, Sichuan, 18.v.1983, X.Z. Zhang. Paratypes. 6 males, same data as holotype; 1 female, Ya’an, 1600 m, Sichuan, vi.1986, Y. Feng ( IZCAS).

Distribution. China (Sichuan, Shaanxi), Vietnam.
