10. Canthium spinosissimum Merr. View in CoL
(Rubiaceae) in Lingnan Sci. J. 11(1): 56. 1932. TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Hongmao Shan, 23 June 1929, W. T. Tsang & H. Fung 366 (i.e. Lingnan University Herbarium 17900) (holotype: NY 00130978 image!; isotype: A 00092448 , image!).
Tsang and Fung 17900 (NY) was the only gathering cited in the protologue of the name Canthium spinosissimum Merr. and the date of collection was cited as “ June 26, 1929 ” ( Merrill, 1932). On the label of the holotype specimen, however, 17900 is the herbarium number, the collecting number is “366” and the date of collection is “ June 23, 1929 ”. Thus, the colleting number and the date of collection is erroneously cited and should be corrected to W. T. Tsang & H. Fung 366 and 23 June 1929.
