44. Simulium (Simulium) rasuli Takaoka View in CoL , Ya’cob & Sofian-Azirun, 2018
Simulium (Simulium) rasuli Takaoka , Ya’cob & Sofian-Azirun, in Ya’cob et al., 2018b: 1–3 (Female).
This species was described from females collected by a Malaise trap from Genting Highland, Peninsular Malaysia by Ya’cob et al. (2018b). The male, pupa and larva remain unknown. This species is characterized in the female by the scutum with longitudinal vittae, triangular ovipositor valve with a nearly straight inner margin, and tarsal claw with a short subbasal tooth. The female of this species is distinguished from that of S. (S.) fuscopilosum by the entirely darkened femora and tibiae.
