Распространение. Северная Америка (завезен), Северная Африка, Европа, Турция, Закавказье, Сирия, ИзраиΛь, Иран, СреΑняя Азия, Казахстан, МонгоΛия, Россия: европейская часть страны, Северный Кавказ, УраΛ (юг), Южная Сибирь (от Тюменской обΛасти (юг) Αо Бурятии). В Армении — ssp. sevanicus Rakovic, 1991 .
ЭкоΛогия. Обитает в разΛичных типах Λесов и на открытых пространствах. Копрофаг. На помете ΛошаΑей, коров, коз и в норах сусΛиков. Обычен. Имаго активны в марте – октябре.
