Parosteodes Warren (Figs 596–610)

Parosteodes occurs in southern Australia. The eggs of the two Australian Parosteodes species , the type and an undescribed species, are extremely similar. Both are sub­elliptical but fictiliaria Guenée is relatively broad. The eggs are marked on all surfaces by conspicuous, hexagonal, concave cells with moderately broad, elevated walls. In both species, the walls of the cells defined by aeropyles are also double­ridged. The micropylar cells are overlain by a fine reticulum. The aeropyles are elevated, prominently domed, with small to very small openings and are absent from the top of the wide lateral side. Rosette cells are recessed and the chorion is soft and deeply pitted.
