Revised description. Shell medium-sized, solid, moderately slender fusiform with conical spire, apical angle 35–40°. Protoconch not preserved. Teleoconch of at least ten whorls. Early teleoconch whorls with broad smooth subsutural spiral cord and beaded suprasutural band crossed by two delicate spiral cords, separated by strongly concave mid-portion. Sculpture only slightly changing during ontogeny with appearance of indistinct tubercles on subsutural cord. Suture narrowly incised, linear. Last whorl ~60% of total height; subsutural collar narrow bearing blunt spines that strengthen and become pointed on last half whorl. Subsutural ramp broad, concave, delimited by tubercular shoulder; convex below, moderately constricted at base. Siphonal fasciole weakly swollen, slightly twisted. Sculpture of bifid shoulder cord bearing about 26 small tubercles, mid-whorl and peribasal cords slightly narrower, tubercular. Two tubercular perifasciolar cords of similar strength. Secondary and tertiary spirals in interspaces and over base and fasciole. Aperture moderately narrow, pyriform. Outer lip not thickened, with numerous lirae within, extending deep within aperture. Anal sinus deep, moderately narrow, asymmetrically Ushaped, with apex at mid-ramp. Siphonal canal moderately long and wide, twisted, slightly deflected to the left with shallowly notched tip. Columella strongly excavated in adapical third, straight below, weakly twisted at fasciole, smooth. Columellar and parietal callus thick, sharply delimited, forming broad callus rim, separated from fasciole by pseudumbilical chink.
Discussion. This species is characterized by its conical spire, deeply concave subsutural ramp, the presence of two spiral cords that overrun the suprasutural row of tubercles on the spire, and the double perifasciolar cords, which is not seen in any other Paratethyan clavatulid. The spirals that run over the suprasutural row of tubercles on the spire continue on the last whorl to make the tubercles on the shoulder cord bifid, another feature not seen in other Paratethyan clavatulids. The relatively simple sculpture of the early teleoconch whorls allows a separation from the otherwise somewhat similar ‘ Clavatula ’ sophiae ( Hoernes & Auinger, 1891) , which has a tripartite sculpture of beaded cords.
Paleoenvironment. Occurrences from Borský Mikuláš ( Slovakia) point to inner neritic, agitated paleoenvironments in the photic zone, characterized by soft sea-bottom ( Švagrovský 1981a).
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (middle Miocene): Korytnica Basin: Korytnica ( Poland) ( Bałuk 2003), Polish Carpathian Foreland Basin: Lipa ( Poland ( Friedberg 1912); Vienna Basin: Borský Mikuláš ( Slovakia) ( Švagrovský 1982); Pannonian Basin: Letkés, Pécsszabolcs, Szilágy, Tekeres ( Hungary) ( Bohn-Havas 1973; Kovács & Vicián 2021); Salgótarján Basin: Piliny ( Hungary) ( Strausz 1966); Mahida Basin: Valea Satului ( Romania) (Hinculov in Iliescu et al. 1968); Făget Basin: Lăpugiu de Sus ( Romania) ( Hoernes & Auinger 1891); Dacian Basin: Târnene ( Bulgaria) ( Nikolov 1994).
