Diagnosis. This species differs from the other Steganina species in having the small body size (BL ranged from 2.33–2.85 mm in measured specimens) and the relatively light body color ( Fig. 8I, J View FIGURE 8 ); the aedeagal opening nearly triangular in ventral view, with thick pubescence ( Fig. 40B View FIGURE 40 ).
Description. Male and female: First flagellomere brown. Clypeus yellow. Mesonotum brownish yellow in male, brown medially, brownish laterally in female ( Fig. 8I View FIGURE 8 ). Katepisternum yellowish ( Fig. 8J View FIGURE 8 ). Scutellum brownish medially, brown laterally ( Fig. 8I View FIGURE 8 ). Halter mostly brownish ( Fig. 8J View FIGURE 8 ). Fore femur with a row of 3 strong setae on distal part of posteroventral surface. Abdominal tergites yellow to brownish in male ( Fig. 8I, J View FIGURE 8 ), brown in female; sternites brown, slightly wider than long. Male terminalia ( Fig. 40 View FIGURE 40 ): Epandrium with ca. 10 setae on dorsal to posterior portions per side ( Fig. 40A View FIGURE 40 ). Surstylus with 1 peg-like tooth and several setulae near distal margin, lacking pubescence ( Fig. 40A View FIGURE 40 ). Cercus lacking pubescence ( Fig. 40A View FIGURE 40 ). Hypandrium roundly expanded anteromedially ( Fig. 40B, C View FIGURE 40 ). Pregonite with 5 sensilla ( Fig. 40B, C View FIGURE 40 ). Aedeagal sheath distally dorsad curved and with several minute, serrated processes ( Fig. 40D, E View FIGURE 40 ). Subepandrial sclerite slightly vaulted ( Fig. 40F View FIGURE 40 ).
Measurements and indices. BL = 2.75 mm in holotype (2.33–2.73 in 2♂, 2.37–2.85 in 3♀ paratypes), ThL = 1.29 mm (1.15–1.34 in ♂, 1.21–1.34 in ♀), WL = 2.21 mm (2.25–2.68 in ♂, 2.41–2.65 in ♀), WW = 1.14 mm (1.01–1.24 in ♂, 0.95–1.16 in ♀), arb = 7/3 (6–8/4–5), avd = 0.63 (0.74–0.89), adf = 1.24 (1.03–1.50), flw = 1.85 (2.36–3.13), FW/HW = 0.41 (0.37–0.43), ch/o = 0.26 (0.16–0.39), prorb = 1.35 (0.83–1.06), rcorb = 1.10 (0.57– 0.72), vb = 0.89 (0.61–0.75), dcl = 0.66 (0.54–0.75), presctl = 0.64 (0.52–0.78), sctl = 1.90 (1.87–2.52), sterno = 0.89 (0.67–1.14), orbito = 1.62 (1.63–2.05), dcp = 0.30 (0.29–0.36), sctlp = 1.39 (1.33–1.93), C = 1.65 (1.49–1.82), 4c = 1.04 (1.24–1.56), 4v = 1.44 (1.68–2.14), 5x = 1.53 (1.45–1.85), ac = 11.33 (9.91–13.00), M = 0.50 (0.59–0.74), C3F = 0.69 (0.56–0.70).
