Ellampus (Philoctetes) kozhevnikovi Semenov-Tian-Shanskij 1932: 20.

Type locality: “Turkestan: prov. Ferganensis: Shachimardan, alt. 4.690' s.m. (A. Fedtschenko! 12.VII.1871).— Specimen unicum (1 ♂) (Mus. Zool. Univers. Mosqu.)”.

Remarks. Semenov-Tian-Shanskij (1932) described 38 new species and one new subspecies in the study of the Eurasian Ellampus Spinola. However , he did not list, key or cite other Asian species described by previous authors. The type of E. kozhevnikovi is a male of Omalus imbecillus ( Mocsáry, 1889) , a common species widely distributed from Turkey to China ( Wei et al. 2014). We propose it as new synonym of Omalus imbecillus ( Mocsáry, 1889) . In Kimsey & Bohart (1991) Omalus imbecillus was included in the genus Holophris Mocsáry, 1890 and later moved to the genus Omalus Panzer by Rosa (2005). The type of O. imbecillus is housed in HNHM and it was examined by P. Rosa. In Kimsey & Bohart (1991: 248) the type depository of E. kozhevnikovi is doubtfully ZIN.

Current status. Omalus imbecillus ( Mocsáry, 1889) .
