Diagnosis. Neurepidosis emarginata differs from the congeneric species in that a long, dorsal portion of the eye bridge is devoid of ommatidia; the necks of the medial flagellomeres are shorter than the nodes; the palpus has almost invariably only three segments; and the empodia are same length as the claws. As for genitalic characters, in no other Neurepidosis is the gonocoxal emargination so wide and deep ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 12–19 , ↓ 5). The conspicuously thin ejaculatory apodeme (↓ 6) of N. emarginata resembles that of N. decorata Jaschhof, 2013 , a species with otherwise completely different genitalic structures ( Jaschhof & Jaschhof 2013: fig. 67B). Females and larvae of N. emarginata remain unknown.

Other male characters. Body size 1.3 mm. Head. Neck of fourth flagellomere 0.7 times the length of node; circumfila with 1–2 short posterior extensions ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 12–19 ). Palpus usually with 3 segments, the third being the longest; one specimen with 4 segments is considered a rare exception. Wing 3.1 times longer than wide. Genitalia. Posterior edge of ninth tergite broadly rounded, with inconspicuous, T-shaped sclerotization medially ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 12–19 ). Gonocoxae: ventral bridge conspicuously short, with pigmented band below the emargination; dorsoposterior portions elongated into rounded lobes ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 12–19 ). Gonostylus convex, bent; apex pointed, which in some specimens ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 12–19 ) is more pronounced than in others ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 12–19 ), depending on preparation. Tegmen robust, clearly tapered towards apex, lateral edges reinforced, apex slightly incised ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 12–19 ).

Etymology. The species name, emarginata, Latin for emarginate, refers to the gonocoxal emargination whose considerable size is characteristic of this species.

Type material. Holotype. Male , Sweden, Öland , Borgholm, Rönnerum-Abbantorp Nature Reserve, small bushy fen in broadleaf forest, 17 June–15 July 2015, Malaise trap, M. & C. Jaschhof (spm. no. CEC 1601 in NHRS). Paratypes. 1 male, same data as the holotype (spm. no. CEC 1602 in SDEI) ; 1 male, Sweden, Västerbotten, Vindeln, Svartberget Experimental Park, Åheden , pine forest, 9–23 July 2004, MT, SMTP (trap 61, collecting event 1301) (spm. no. CEC 1603 in NHRS) .

Other material examined. Czech Republic: 2 males, Moravia and Silesia, Hrubý Jeseník Mountains , Rejvíz NR, 2 Aug.–28 September 2005, MT , J. Roháček & J. Ševčík (in NMPC) .
