Material examined. 2 Ƥ Ajenjua Bepo Forest Reserve; 24–30.VIII.2006 ( ISEA).

Distribution. Common species recorded from several countries. Verified data come from Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghana and Kenya. According to the literature known also from Cameroon, Central African Republic, Guinea, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda. Recorded from Ghana for the first time by Przybyłowicz & Kühne (2008) without any details.

Remarks. The two females examined are similar in size (forewing length 15 mm) but smaller than the female holotype (forewing length 17 mm) of Metarctia haematosphages Holland, 1893 which is synonymized with M. haematica by Przybyłowicz & Kühne (2008). Female genitalia are characterized by elongate and narrow ductus bursae which are sclerotized proximally ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 H) (gs - S131, ISEA).
