Male characters (other than those referred to in the generic description). Body size 1.2 mm. Head. Head capsule sparsely setose. Eye bridge short, lacking ommatidia dorsally. Postfrons asetose. Scape and pedicel lighter than flagellum. Neck of fourth flagellomere 1.2 times longer than node. Terminalia. Ninth tergite narrow, posterior margin broadly sclerotized medially, small rounded lobes posterolaterally ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ). Gonocoxites broader than long, sparsely setose ventrally, ventroposterior margin without emargination, dorsoposterior margins with small triangular lobes ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ). Gonostylus somewhat bulbous dorsally, dense large microtrichia dorsosubapically, posterior margin slightly convex ( Figs 2–3 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ). Tegmen membranous, elongate, slightly broadened subapically, with tongue-shaped process apically; side edges turned ventrally, slightly serrate subapically ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ).
Etymology. The species epithet, hortensis , is the Latin word for ‘belonging to the backyard’.
Holotype. Male (specimen ID CEC93), Sweden, Öland, Mörbylånga, Skogsby, Station Linné, lawn with bushes next to compost pile, 1–31 July 2014, Malaise trap, M. & C. Jaschhof (in NHRS).
