Macropsis dalhousiensis View in CoL sp. nov.

Figs 1 View FIGURES 1 C–D, 3L, 5A–I, 7G.

Probably green in life, preserved specimen ochraceous without dark marking on head and thorax. Spot on apex of clavus, series of spots on outer margin of forewing, dark fuscous.

Head obtusely angled medially. Crown short medially than next to eyes, not raised above level of pronotum. Face convex in profile, rugose, including eyes broader than long. Clypellus constricted in distal 0.66, then expanded with rounded anterior margin, exceeding genal curve. Pronotum convex in profile, about half as long as wide medially, slightly shorter than mesonotum, narrower than head including eyes, rugae obliquely angular, converging on median line, posterior margin slightly concave. Forewing 2.7–2.8 × as long as wide. Basal tergal apodemes of abdomen broad at base, narrowed distally with apices conically rounded ( Fig. 7G View FIGURES 7 ); sternal (2S) apodemes longer than broad at base, apices more or less truncate ( Fig. 7G View FIGURES 7 ).

Male genitalia. Pygofer dorsal margin angularly expanded medially with round posterior margin; ventral process not extending beyond dorsal margin and apically narrowed and black tipped. Style extended to apex of subgenital plates, upturned near apex and slightly narrowed before rounded and dark pigmented apex. Aedeagus with dorsal apodeme slightly longer than preatrium, shaft broad at base narrowed distally, curved dorsally in basal 0.33, gonopore on ventral margin with apical lateral flanges. Dorsal connective more or less U-shaped with slightly diverging dorsal arms.

Measurements. Male 4.4–4.5 mm long, 1.3–1.4 mm wide across eyes and 1.4–1.5 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.

Material examined. HOLOTYPE ³, INDIA: Himachal Pradesh: Dalhousie , 19.viii.1986, N. Shenmar ( UASB) . PARATYPE 1 male, data as for holotype ( UASB) .

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality.

Remarks. M. dalhousiensis sp. nov. externally resembles M. ganeshai and M. vagdeviae . It differs from M. ganeshai in the aedeagal shaft being narrowed apically compared to slightly broadened in lateral view beyond the dorsal curvature in the latter; from M. vagdeviae it differs in having much longer pygofer ventral process.
