Range: —Andes from Colombia to Bolivia ( CH, CO, SC) and northern Argentina.
Ecology: —Rare (known from three collections); in open, rocky sites, on roadsides, landslides, rock walls, cliffs, and shrubby hillsides; 1300–2200 m.
Notes: —Differs from P. tartarea by the bright yellow to orange-yellow farina. Generally grows at lower elevations than P. tartarea , i.e., showing an opposite elevational pattern compared with P. calomelanos / P. austroamericana .
