Types

Holotype, female, China: Shaanxi Province, Yang County, Changqing, 33°35.23’ N, 107°32.26’E. August 8, 2005, from Rosa roxburghii Tratt. (Rosaceae) , coll. Xue, Xiao Feng & Song, ZiWei. Paratypes, 5 females and 2 males, with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host

Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.

Etymology

Derived from the specific epithet of the type host plant, roxburghii .

Remarks

This species is similar to Rhinophytoptus dudichi Farkas, 1963 , on Pruns spinosa L. ( Rosaceae ), but can be differentiated by empodium 7rayed (4rayed in R. dudichi ), coxal area smooth (with short lines in R. dudichi ) and scapular setae (sc) projecting posterior (sc projecting forward in R. dudichi ).
