Type-species. Antipathes humilis Pourtalès, 1867 (by original designation).

Diagnosis. “Corallum flabellate or tending to be planar; branchlets short, straight or curved distally; arranged uniserially or bilaterally; polypar spines acute, smooth or slightly tuberculate; circumpolypar spines distinctly larger than interpolypar spines; hypostomal spines very reduced or absent” ( Opresko, 2004).

Distribution. Indian Ocean, western Atlantic, IndoPacific and Hawaii ( Opresko, 2004).
