Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Concan (Konkan), s.d., Stocks & Law s.n. ( CAL 0000012756!, E00301233!, M0233764!, MPU 022823!, P02849167!, P02913890!, P02913891! and S13-12436!).

Notes: — Baker (1876) described Smithia pycnantha on the basis of specimens collected by Law and Stocks, but no specific herbarium sheet was designated as holotype. Pertaining to the specification given in the protologue, nine specimens were traced (CAL0000012756, E00301233, K000859001, M0233764, MPU022823, P02849167, P02913890, P02913891 and S13-12436). Of these, the best one, K000859001, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
