( Figs 1C View FIGURE 1 , 2E View FIGURE 2 )

Diagnosis. This species is easily recognized by having the harpe more sclerotized than the other parts, the apex of inner median filament posterior to the aedeagal lobes, the posterior margin of basal cover plate broadly incurved, the basivolsella broadly rounded and aedeagal dorsal valve anterior to the aedeagal dorsal valve.

Description. Head. Mandible with two distal teeth. Median clypeal lobe trapezoidal, with one angulate large tooth; median clypeal carina high in profile, complete or nearly so, arched in profile. Frons coriaceous, punctures small and sparse. Vertex crest straight or nearly so. Dorsal pronotal area with anterior margin ecarinate.Tergal process submedian, with tuft of setae without depression. Posterior hypopygeal margin incurved medially. Genitalia. Harpe entirely wide, apical margin rounded, abaxial margin not projected; gonostipes shorter than harpe, ventral margin not excavated until outer margin of basivolsella; digitus short, basidorsal corner strongly projected; basivolsella without protuberance, without spines; aedeagal ventral valve with apex anterior to apex of dorsal one, wide, progressively narrowing apicad; inner margin sinuous; outer margin sinuous, slightly curved laterad; aedeagal dorsal valve robust, with two pairs of apical lobe; outer lobe long, narrow, apical margin rounded and posterad; apex of inner median filament posterior to apex of lobe, directed posterad; basal cover plate entirely narrow, posterior margin broadly rounded; apodeme extending beyond genital ring.

Material examined. Holotype, 1♂: PANAMA, Darién, Cana, Serraria de Pierre , 1450 m, 4–7.VI.1995, J.Ashe, R.Brooks FIT ( CNCI).

Distribution. Panama.

Etymology. This species is named after Alzira Soriano, the first woman elected mayor at a time that had not yet allowed women's suffrage.

Remarks. It is not similar to any other of this group.
