Coelocratus rufipennis (Gory & Percheron, 1833)
Inca rufipennis Gory & Percheron, 1833: 109 (description; distribution).
C. [Coelocratus] rufipennis: Burmeister & Schaum 1841: 241-243 (new combination; distribution; references); Blackwelder 1944: 260 (catalog; distribution; reference).
Distribution: BRAZIL: Brésil (type locality), M. Dupont Collection (Gory & Percheron 1833); Minas Gerais (Burmeister & Schaum 1841).
Lectotype (examined)
Lectotype, here designated: BRAZIL: 1 ex. syntypus [ HBBA], “ rugipeñis / G. P. / Brasil int.” [handwritten by Burmeister, with black border, originally fastened to the bottom of the drawer], “ Inca / rufipennis / Gory & Percheron / Syntypus [handwritten by A. Bachmann] / Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales [printed]” on red paper, black frame, “ Inca / rufipennis / Gory & Percheron, 1833 / Lectotypus / Di Iorio desig. 2013” [handwritten by Di Iorio, red paper].
Note: The letter ñ was used in ancient German instead of the double n (A. Bachmann 2013 pers. com.). Burmeister & Schaum (1841) wrote “Mr Dupont, whose courteous goodness we had to praise so often, has sent us a male specimen of Inca rufipennis , the same which is depicted in the monograph of Mr Gory and Percheron” (translated from German), leaving no doubt that the specimen in Burmeister Collection is the type. As the amount of specimens examinated was not originally stated (Gory & Percheron 1833), a series of syntypes is assumed (ICZN 1999: 80, Recommendation 73F), and a lectotype is designated here.
