Bathysaurus mollis Günther, 1878 View in CoL , was recorded in the western Mediterranean by Sulak (1984). Reconsideration of this record is necessary since no successive works, including the world-wide revision of deep-sea lizard fishes of the genus Bathysaurus ( Sulak et al., 1985) View in CoL , mention the Mediterranean as part of the geographical distribution of this species.
