Holotype: male, AMNH

Type locality: COSTA RICA, Turrialba

Description. Dark brown to black. Margins of pronotum, hemelytra and connexivum usually dark brown to black, some specimens bear a light yellow line at the anterolateral margins of pronotum and basal half of coria. Yellowish spots variable, usually three or four spots adjacent to each of the cicatrices and others spread on pronotum; three at the base of scutellum and three at apex; one at apexof each radial vein. Connexivum black with few punctures. Coxae, trochanter, femora and tibiae dark brown. Tarsi yellowish or light brown.

Male. Measurements (n=4): head length 2.74 ± 0.08 (2.68–2.80); width 3.26 ± 0.03 (3.24–3.28); pronotum length 3.24 ± 0.04 (3.21–3.27); width 6.17 (6.17); scutellum length 5.23 ± 0.09 (5.16–5.29); width 4.01 ± 0.15 (3.90–4.11); abdomen length 5.22 ± 0.15 (5.11–5.32); width 6.31 (6.31); length of antennal segments: I 1.28 ± 0.06 (1.24–1.32); II 1.20 (1.20); III 2.22 ± 0.25 (2.04–2.40); IV 2.16 (2.16); V 2.60 (2.60); length of labial segments: I 1.64 ± 0.23 (1.48–1.80); II 3.20 ± 0.28 (3.00–3.40); III 2.54 ± 0.08 (2.48–2.60); IV 2.72 ± 0.11 (2.64–2.80); total length 13.49 ± 0.55 (13.10–13.88).

Genitalia. Exposed surface of pygophore dark brown; posterolateral angles moderately divergent, dorsally projected ( Fig. 5A–C, p View FIGURE 5 1 View FIGURE 1 ), dark brown or yellowish, stout, posteriorly depressed, apices obtuse ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 , pa). Parameres yellowish to castaneous, subparallel to posterolateral angles, attaining apex of segment X, flattened cylindrical, apices obtusely rounded with a subapical denticle ( Figs. 5A–C View FIGURE 5 , par; 6A). Segment X subcylindrical, basal portion membranous forming a line at the limit of the sclerotized area ( Fig. 5A–C, X View FIGURE 5 ). Phallotheca globose ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 , ph); vesica sinuous, almost as long as phallotheca ( Fig. 7A, v View FIGURE 7 ), with a dorsal small obtuse projection ( Fig. 6A, p View FIGURE 6 3 View FIGURE 3 ).

Female. Measurements (n=34): head length 2.97 ± 0.11 (2.80–3.20); width 3.24 ± 0.10 (2.92–3.36); pronotum length 3.49 ± 0.28 (2.46–3.78); width 6.68 ± 0.15 (6.39–6.95); scutellum length 5.82 ± 0.19 (5.48–6.30); width 4.42 ± 0.11 (4.26–4.61); abdomen length 6.16 ± 0.21 (5.75–6.74); width 7.16 ± 0.64 (6.03–8.20); length of antennal segments: I 1.30 ± 0.07 (1.20–1.44); II 1.21 ± 0.09 (1.08–1.40); III 2.19 ± 0.13 (2.00–2.48); IV 2.25 ± 0.13 (2.00–2.44); V 2.61 ± 0.10 (2.40–2.80); length of labial segments: I 1.77 ± 0.09 (1.60–1.96); II 3.34 ± 0.10 (3.08–3.48); III 2.66 ± 0.11 (2.44–2.84); IV 2.89 ± 0.14 (2.68–3.12); total length 14.65 ± 0,53 (13.41–15.44).

Genitalia. Gonocoxites VIII as wide as long, covering the base of laterotergites IX; posterior margins of gonocoxites VIII over gonocoxites IX convex ( Fig. 8A View FIGURE 8 , gc8). Arms of gonocoxites IX widening to apex, more sclerotized than disc ( Fig. 9A View FIGURE 9 , gcIX).
