Superfamily Chaeriloidea Pocock, 1893
Type Genus. Chaerilus Simon, 1877 View in CoL .
Composition. The superfamily is monotypic and includes only family Chaerilidae View in CoL .
Distribution. South and Southeast Asia.
Taxonomic history. This superfamily name was first used by Lourenço (2000a) who included under it two families, Chaerilidae and Pseudochactidae . We restrict the content of Chaeriloidea to Chaerilidae , and establish a separate parvorder and superfamily for Pseudochactidae .
Diagnosis. As in parvorder Chaerilida .
Discussion. Contrary to the opinion of Stockwell (1989: 180), Lamoral (1980) was not the first to use the name Chaeriloidea since he only used a vernacular name “chaeriloids”.
