Phortica (Phortica) sumatraensis Chen View in CoL , sp. nov.

( Figs 33–36 View FIGURES 33 - 36 )

Diagnosis. This species is similar to P. palmata Chen & Toda in Chen et al., 2007 from eastern Malaysia in the male terminalia, but can be distinguished from it by the aedeagal median rod submedially with unpaired process and the aedeagal ventral bridge apically slightly bifurcated ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 33 - 36 , vb). In P. palmata : the aedeagal median rod submedially with slightly asymmetric process; the aedeagal ventral bridge slender, apically largely bifurcated (see Fig. 49 in Chen et al., 2007).

Description. Frons brown, with a few, thin, sparse interfrontal setae. Face brownish. Clypeus white medially, dark brown laterally. Thorax brownish yellow, with brown to dark brown patches and pollinose pattern. Scutellum yellow, with dark brown patch medially. Wings smoky. Legs yellow, partly brownish on all femora, with 3 brown rings on each tibia. Abdominal first to fifth tergites yellow; second tergite with brown patch submedially each side; third to fifth tergites each with medially slightly protruded, brown band on posterior margin and 1 yellow patch laterally each side; sixth tergite nearly entirely dark except yellow medial line, with expanded lobe posteroventrally (see Fig. 36 View FIGURES 33 - 36 in Chen et al., 2007). Male terminalia: Epandrium pubescent anteroventrally, with ca. 13 setae on dorsal to posterolateral portion each side ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33 - 36 ). Surstylus with pubescence basally and several wedge-shaped prensisetae on apical margin to inner surface ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33 - 36 ). Additional plate between cerci and tenth sternite pubescent, medially connected to tenth sternite ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 33 - 36 ). Posterolateral lobe of hypandrium undeveloped. Paramere expanded distally; apical process with 1 sensillum; medial process with pubescence, 1 sensillum and 3 teeth; proximal process glabrous ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 33 - 36 ). Vertical process of gonopods apically with 11 sclerotized projections ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 33 - 36 ). Aedeagus with 2 pairs of bridges ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 33 - 36 ).
