Diagnosis. Forewing length is 8–10 mm in males and 10–11 mm in females. Huangilene alikangiae intermedia differs externally from the nominate subspecies by its thinner forewing markings with almost reduced medial transverse line. The genitalia of the two subspecies display no remarkable differences.

Distribution. Japan: the Ryukyu Islands ( Marumo 1923; Inoue 1988).
