Opinion: This species occurs in the region but its true identity is unknown.
Justification:
Literature analysis: This genus was established by Gray (1870) for a reticulate colony whose characteristics are essentially unknown other than that the sclerites are spindles. Thomson & Simpson’s (1909) description of the small fan-like colony of Menacella gracilis suggests it is possibly a species of the plexaurid genus Astrogorgia . Rao & Devi (2003) only listed it.
