Observations: the name on the original label of the specimen is “ Andreaea perimbricata Broth. ”
Note— Andreaea clavata is characterized by the large, red-brown, and clavate plants with stem not or occasionally branched, in transverse section rounded, rather homogeneous, and central strand absent. The axillary hairs are 2-celled, brownish. The leaves are crowded and imbricate when dry, erect-patent when wet, straight, obovate, more rarely panduriform, very concave, cochleariform, with obtuse to rounded, straight apex, cucullate, erose. The margin is entire and the costa is absent. Lamina is unistratose, with upper cells ± isodiametric, rounded to subquadrate, rarely shortly oblong, with thin walls with prominent hyaline cuticular dorsal papillae. The mid cells are shortly oblong or rectangular and the basal cells short to long rectangular. ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURE 2 ).
