Diagnosis of male. Length 2.99–3.11 mm; head simple at base; pronotum ( Figs 3B View FIGURE 3 , 4B View FIGURE 4 ) slightly concave anteriorly, with sparse golden setae inside cavity; metaventrite with pair of lateral processes in addition to long, slim median spines; protibia with distinct acute apical spur; metatibia slightly expanded near apex.

Description. Male ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ). Length 2.99–3.11 mm. Head longer than wide, length from anterior margin of clypeus to head base 0.74–0.76 mm, width across eyes 0.62–0.63 mm, with median carina extending anteriorly from head base to apical 2/3 of head length; head base simple; eyes each composed of about 35 facets; with welldeveloped ocular canthi. Antennomeres IX much longer than X, antennomeres IX–XI forming distinct club. Pronotum about as long as wide, length along midline 0.66–0.68 mm, pronotal maximum width 0.66–0.67 mm, with nude median and lateral antebasal foveae; disc ( Figs 3B View FIGURE 3 , 4B View FIGURE 4 ) slightly concave medially, with sparse golden setae at middle of anterior incision. Elytra wider than long, length along suture 0.8 7– 0.88 mm, elytral maximum width 1.02–1.11 mm, each elytron with two distinct basal foveae, discal stria extending posteriorly from second fovea and exceeding elytral midlength. Metaventrite with pair of large lateral processes in addition to median pair, median spines thinner and longer than lateral ones ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 ). All legs simple ( Fig. 4D, G–H View FIGURE 4 ), except protibia ( Fig. 4E–F View FIGURE 4 ) each with one acute apical spur, metatibia slightly expanded medially near apex ( Fig. 4I View FIGURE 4 ); tarsomeres II short ( Fig. 4F View FIGURE 4 ), not extending beneath tarsomeres III. Abdomen broad at base and narrowed apically, length along midline 0.72–0.79 mm, abdominal maximum width 1.07–1.17 mm. Sternite IX as in Fig. 4J View FIGURE 4 . Length of aedeagus 0.55 mm; aedeagus with asymmetric median lobe bent rightwards apically, endophallus similar to that of N. excavatus ( Fig. 4K–M View FIGURE 4 ).

Female. Measurements: Body length 2.93–3.38 mm, length of head from anterior margin of clypeus to head base 0.71–0.72 mm, width across eyes 0.59–0.63 mm, length of pronotum along midline 0.66–0.67 mm, pronotal maximum width 0.64–0.69 mm, length of elytra along suture 0.78–0.86 mm, maximum elytral width 1.07–1.18 mm, length of abdomen along midline 0.78–1.13 mm, abdominal maximum width 1.13–1.29 mm. Eyes each composed of about 25 facets. Pronotal disc lacking modification; legs lacking spine.

Distribution. Southern China: Guangdong.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the type locality of the new species, i. e., Nanling Nature Reserve.

Comments. As stated in the ‘Comments’ section of Nomuraius excavatus , N. nanlingensis can be readily distinguished by the much smaller and shallower cavity on the pronotal disc in the male, as well as by the much longer median processes of the metaventrite, and by the more acute and slim apical spine of the protibia.
