Type locality. “Regno di Napoli” [former Kingdom of Naples ], Italy .
Material examined. Lectotype by present designation ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–13 ), female, MZFN: new box, labelled: “41.3981 | 42.4632 | Mordella interrupta , n. Napoli [original Costa’s label] | LECTOTYPE Mordella interrupta Costa, 1854 D. Selnekovič des. 2019 [red label] | Variimorda (s. str.) villosa (Schrank, 1781) D. Selnekovič det. 2019”; glued on side, covered in dirt . Additional specimens in the series: 1 specimen (sex undetermined), MZFN: new box, labelled: “Chieti | Variimorda (s. str.) villosa (Schrank, 1781) D. Selnekovič det. 2019” ; 2 specimens (sex undeter- mined), MZFN: new box, labelled: “ Variimorda (s. str.) villosa (Schrank, 1781) D. Selnekovič det. 2019”; 3 speci- mens (sex undetermined), MZFN: new box, no data, unidentified .
Current status. Junior subjective synonym of Variimorda villosa (Schrank, 1781) by Méquignon (1946).
Remarks. The lectotype can be assigned to Variimorda villosa based on the shape of galea and whitish pubescence in the basal portions of the pygidium.
