3.4. Extraction and isolation of compounds from P. sibiricus leaves
The dried leaves of P. sibiricus (453 g) were crushed and soaked in MeOH. The MeOH extract was evapd, and the residue was dissolved in H 2 O. The aq. soln was re-extracted with CH 2 Cl 2. The CH 2 Cl 2 extract was dried with Na 2 SO 4, filtrated and evapd gave a residue (10.9 g) and chromatographed with CC method on silica gel with a mixtures of CH 2 Cl 2 and ( CH 3) 2 CO (ratio 45:1, 35:1 and 10:1) as eluent. The result was the isolation of the following compounds: scoparone (9) (12.7 mg, amorphous solid), scopoletin (10) (45.4 mg, m.p. 192–195 °C), umbelliferone (11) (63.7 mg, m.p. 230 °C), cynaropicrin (12) (6.7 mg, amorphous solid) and desacylcynaropicrin 8α-(Z)-(4′-hydroxy-2′-methyl) butenoate (]cebellin F) (13) (3.9 mg, amorphous solid).
