Brachysomus (Hippomias) podolicus Białooki, 2007

Brachysomus podolicus Białooki, 2007: 157 . Type locality: ‘Galicia’.

Remarks. The original description is based on a single male from Galicia (= modern Southern Poland, Lviv, Ivano- Frankivsk and partly Ternopil Provinces of Ukraine). The holotype (housed in J. Fremuth collection) was not examined. According to the diagnosis provided by Bialooki (2007) it is closely related to B. polonicus occurring in Poland and the western part of Ukraine. The holotype of B. podolicus is not easily distinguishable from specimens of B. polonicus . Pictures of the slightly sclerotized aedeagus have been taken from a dried specimen ( Białooki, 2007, page 186), hence the fine structure of the endophallus and ventral membranes are not visible. The taxonomic status and distribution of B. podolicus therefore must remain unclear; continued study is in progress (Nikolai Yunakov and Denys Khrapov).
