Figs. 103–105 View FIGURES 100–105 , 203 View FIGURE 203 , 235B View FIGURE 235 http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:244E3865-AE55-4040-898C-83679727051B
Description. Measurements: Body length 2.65 mm, width 1.25 mm. Vestiture: Body covered with double suberect setae and recumbent piliform light scales. Suberect setae shorter than width of elytral interstriae. Apical 1/3 of epifrons almost bare, basal 1/3 sparsely covered with suberect hair-like scales. Legs evenly and sparsely covered with pale piliform scales. Ventral side of body evenly covered with pale hairs and piliform scales. Colouration: Body, legs and antennae yellowish-brown.
Head: Rostrum slightly elongate (RL/RW = 1.13), parallel-sided, sharply separated from head capsule.Antennal sockets partly visible in dorsal view, hidden by lateral margins of epifrons. Pterygia not projecting from outline of rostrum. Antennal scrobes sharply developed and deep, directed to ventral margin of eye, reaching ventral side of rostrum. Epistome V-shaped, distinctly convex, glabrous, not delimited by carina, bearing thorn-shaped process in lateroapical angles in males. Epifrons flat, parallel-sided, weakly depressed in anterior part, densely punctate, without carina, without median longitudinal sulcus, separated from vertex by distinct transverse depression. Vertex flat, finely longitudinally punctate, strongly wider than epifrons at level of antennal insertion. Eyes (VW/ELD = 2.14), oval, weakly convex, highest at middle, dorsal margin situated near level of vertex in lateral view. Antennae: Scape weakly, evenly curved, strongly widened along distal 1/3; funicular antennomeres: 1st and 2nd elongate, 3rd–7th moniliform; club broad-spindle-shaped.
Thorax: Pronotum transverse (PL/PW = 0.73), widest at middle, weakly convex at disc and strongly at sides, gently constricted anteriorly and posteriorly, densely, shallowly punctate, spaces between punctures slightly granulate, 0.5x as wide as diameter of puncture. Elytra: oblong-oval (EL/EW = 1.36), at disc weakly convex longitudinally and transversally. Interstriae flat, glabrous, 2x wider than striae. Punctures well separated. Spaces between punctures as long as diameter of puncture or narrower. Legs: Fore tibiae distinctly curved inwards, with strongly prominent thorn-like mucro, external apical angle straight, not protruded. Hind tibiae in male not sinuate and sparsely pilose internally, strongly mucronate. Fifth fore tarsomere extending beyond apical lobes of 3rd by 0.70 length of the lobes.
Abdomen: Male 5th ventrite flat, without depression, with apical margin straight. Male genitalia: Aedeagus slightly and evenly sclerotized. Median lobe 0.5x as long as apodemes, evenly narrowed apically, apex attenuate. Parameres fused at base.
Diagnosis. Brachysomus pseudosetiger sp. n. is similar to B. setiger in general appearance, but differs by the male epistome bearing a thorn-shaped lateroapical process, narrow rostrum, epifrons separated from vertex by transverse depression, antennae slender. From B. mihoki it strongly differs by the small size, absence of dark-brown spots on elytra, short, light, erect setae on elytral interstriae, rostrum slender, epifrons narrower than vertex, separated by transverse depression, median lobe sharply narrower in apical third and strongly acute. From B. podlussanyi sp. n. it differs in integument matt, coarsely punctate, short, sparse, erect pilosity on elytra, epifrons narrower than vertex, distinctly separated by a transverse depression.
Distribution. Bulgaria (Stara Planina Mountain Range: Etropolska Planina)
