Diagnosis. Distinguished from other Australian Ploiaria by the following combination of characters: ventral surface of foretrochanter armed with elongate, setigerous spine, longer spines on base of forefemur emanating from elongate processes, and colouration and male genitalia (see Wygodzinsky 1948: p. 474, Figs. 1–3 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2. Remarks. Ploiaria chilensis is cosmopolitan in distribution, and like P. macrophthalma and Empicoris rubromaculatus , it is thought to have come to Australia by anthropogenic means ( Wygodzinsky 1956). This species was not observed in the present survey.
