Empicoris scabraventris Tatarnic, Wall & Cassis 2011: 23 View in CoL View Cited Treatment (new species).

Diagnosis. This species can be diagnosed by the following combination of characters: chestnut and testastaceous colouration; postocular region slightly longer than anteocular region of head; lateral carina extending full length of pronotum; discal cell approximately twice as long as wide; macrochaetae of abdomen separated from adjacent microchaetae by bare circular areas; parameres roughly parallel-sided; posterior margin of pygophore without ventral projection.

Distribution. Found in central NSW, South Australia, Tasmania and Lord Howe Island.

Specimens examined. AUSTRALIA: New South Wales: Lord Howe Island: Mt. Gower walking trail, 31.586o S 159.079o E, 28 Nov. 2000; CBCR, Australian Museum; LHIS049L leaf litter ex Broad Closed Sclerophyll Forest – Hedyscepe habitat, 13 (AM).

Remarks. This species was recently described by Tatarnic et al. (2011) from 8 specimens. With the recent discovery of this species on Lord Howe Island, we suspect that as with many Australian emesines, its range is probably greater than presently recorded.
