Taxonomy. Mogera latouchet Thomas, 1907 ,
Kuatun, Fukien (= Fujian), China.
Molecular data indicated low genetic divergence within M. latoucher in Vietnam. Monotypic.
Distribution. S China and N Vietnam. View Figure
Descriptive notes. Head-body 116-130 mm, tail 12-16 mm, hindfoot 13:-5-15-5 mm; weight 33-51-8 g. Tail is-4:5—13-3% of head-body length. Dental formulais13/2,C1/1,P4/4,M 3/3 (x2) = 42. Chromosomal complement from Vietnam has 2n = 30 and FNa = 52.
Habitat. Farmland and possibly forests. In Vietnam, La Touche’s Mole occupies lower elevations when sympatric with Kuznetsov’s Mole ( Euroscaptor kuznetsovi) or Orlov’s Mole (E. orlovi).
