Justification: UF 182989 (1, 166 mm SL) and SIO 76–205 (5), both collections from Lang Bank; listed as "rare" by Clavijo et al. (1980:9).

Distribution: WA (BD, FL, GOM, BA, GA, VI, LA, WC, nSA).

Remarks: A deep-water species that has also been taken as shallow as 24 m.
