Rhogogaster kaszabi Zombori, 1973

A junior subjective synonym of Tenthredo (Eurogaster) aaliensis (Strand, 1898) , syn. nov.

TYPES. Rhogogaster kaszabi Zombori, 1973: 449 –451. Holotype Ƥ ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 ). Type locality: “ Mongolia: Chövsgöl aimak: 8 km N von Somon Burenchaan, am Fluß Delger mörön, 1450 m ”. Secondary homonym of Tenthredo kaszabi Muche, 1965 [= Tenthredo (Eurogaster) mesomela Linnaeus, 1758 ].

DISCUSSION. Liston et al. (2006) introduced the combination Tenthredo (Eurogaster) aaliensis (Strand, 1898) for the species formerly known as Rhogogaster (or Sciapteryx , or Tenthredo ) arctica Kiaer, 1898 in Europe, or Tenthredo microps Konow, 1903 in Asia. The species seems to be variable in colouration. The holotype of R. kaszabi ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 ) is a rather pale specimen and corresponds well with the pale form known as T. microps . The nominal taxa of the group ( Eurogaster Zirngiebl, 1953 , or mesomela group) require a revision. Should the European forms prove not to be conspecific with the Asian ones, the Asian species is to be called microps , with kaszabi as subjective synonym.
