Oxalis canaliculata var. trifoliolata Dreyer, Roets & Oberlander View in CoL , var. nov.
This variety is identical to the typical variety except in consistently bearing only three leaflets per leaf. The entire above-ground plant body is glabrous, and the population appears to have only white flowers.
Type:— SOUTH AFRICA. Northern Cape Province, Richtersveld Conservancy, 10 km north of Eksteenfontein, 690 m, 16 June 2012, Oberlander, Roets & Dreyer 2012/06-41 (holotype NBG!)
Etymology:— The name of this variety refers to it consistently bearing only three leaflets per leaf.
Remarks:— It is currently known from only a single locality growing in clay with numerous scattered quartz pebbles in plains near the foot of the Stinkfontein mountains.
