Type species Pluviam guangxiensis sp. n., here designated

Diagnosis. Body sized normally for the tribe, strongly depressed dorsoventrally, colored greyish brown. Head rather small, with normal size (for the tribe) of eyes, large antennal scape (almost two times as wide as rostrum), and occiput plump; coloration of antennae variegate with white and brown. Pronotum very low, strongly narrowed in front, slightly narrower than head; indistinct carinated along lateral edges of disc. Male’s tegmina armed with developed stridulatory apparatus provided with almost straight and rather long transverse stridulatory vein, rather numerous arched and regularly spaced oblique veins, and more or less round mirror ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ). Metanotal gland large and possessing many setae anteriorly and posteriorly; anterior margin arched and wider than hind portions; horizontal intermediate strongly concave; posterior parts narrower, with a margin almost straight ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ). Outer tympanum open (ovoid) and inner one slit-like. Male supra-anal plate somewhat trapezoidal, with anterior parts strongly expanded, lateral edges rounded and tapering; in dorsal view, lateral sides gradually inward inclined and forming as a groove medially; and some short hairs ornamented on hind parts ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 ). Male’s genitalia large and nearly trapezoid-like. Epiphallic middle lobe divided into a pair of anterolateral sclerites apically, which possessing anterior part strongly curved upwards and slightly backwards ( Fig. 4A, B View FIGURE 4 ); above the epiphallus, accessory structure divided into a pair of scutiform sclerites with a spine-like sclerotized process (shorter and somewhat hooked upper process; Fig. 4A, B View FIGURE 4 ); ectoparamere divided into a pair of lamelliform sclerites and each with sharp apex inwards ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ); guiding rod rather long with bifurcate apical part, and basal part armed with two paralleled semi-membranous sclerites ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 ); endoparameres armed with two long and thin apodemes, which almost paralleled and reaching anterior part of genitalia ( Fig. 4A, C View FIGURE 4 ).

Etymology. The name refers to its overcast coloration, as of rain day.

Included species. Type species only.

Comparison. Pluviam is similar to Xuanwua in body shape, coloration, but different in body size, metanotal gland, anal plate and male’s genitalia. It also differs from other genera of Podoscirtini in male’s genitalia.
