03E66B249438106026F1D90AC927F81F.taxon	discussion	Note. This species has an exclusively Western Palaearctic distribution, but its range is rather small, occurring mainly in Central Europe. Cerceris hortivaga is not found in northern Europe or the arid southern regions. Furthermore, the easternmost specimens have been found almost along one line, limited to around the 37 th meridian in Europe (in the Russian provinces of Orel and Tula) and Turkey (in the town of Gürün). Cerceris hortivaga appears to be more mesophilic than closely related species. It is biologically very similar to Cerceris rybyensis (Linnaeus, 1771), with which it often occurs together, and which completely replaces it further east.	en	Mokrousov, Mikhail V., Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03E66B24943B106426F1DDD6CF3FF81D.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Belongs to C. rybyensis species group. It differs from all Palaearctic species of the group (except C. hortivaga) by transverse S 2 basal platform (Fig. 3) and characteristic coloring of the hind leg — coxa with apical yellow spot, trochanter yellow, femur black, tibia predominantly black with inner yellow stripe, tarsi darkened. It differs from the morphologically similar C. amamiensis Tsuneki, 1961 which is only found on the Ryukyu Islands (Japan), by the dark color of hind legs (predominantly yellow in C. amamiensis), black or with yellow spot metanotum (orange-yellow in C. amamiensis), yellow narrow band of T 2 (large and orange-yellow in C. amamiensis) and dense punctation (the punctures interspaces on T 2 and T 3 are smaller than in C. storozhenkoi, but larger than in C. amamiensis).	en	Mokrousov, Mikhail V., Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. Punctation of clypeal median part large and dense, without micropunctures and microsetation. Silver setation on clypeal lateral parts relatively weak and not concealing integument. Mesosoma. Pronotum with anterolateral carina lacking dorsally. Punctation dense and large, on mesonotum central part with distinct interspaces. Tegula with single (1 – 3) punctures. Metapostnotum with deep median furrow, predominantly smooth or oblique microrugose, laterally with conspicuous oblique ridges, basally with transverse delicate folds. Legs. Typical for related species. Wings. Jugal lobe of hindwing near 1 / 5 of anal cell. Metasoma. T 1 without small, apicomedian fossa. S 2 basal platform transverse, near 1 / 4 of segment length (Fig. 3). Coloration (Fig. 2). Black, with yellow pattern. Clypeus (except free margin), lateral part of face, supraclypeal sclerite (at male often only medially), large spot on tegula yellow. Fore and mid legs with yellow coloration on: femora inner surface in apical part, tibiae base and inner surface, tarsi. Midcoxa yellow apically. Hind leg coxa with apical yellow spot, trochanter yellow, femur black, tibia predominantly black with inner yellow stripe, tarsi darkened. T 2 with large, apical band slightly narrowed medially, usually reduced apical band on T 2 – T 5 (at females) or T 2 – T 6 (at males), S 2 with yellow apical band or lateral spots. Sometimes (predominantly in specimens from mainland) yellow lateral spots on pronotum and (or) transverse spot on metanotum present too, and apical band on T 5 (at females) or T 6 (at males) large and not reduced. Female (Figs 1 – 5, 9 – 11, 21, 23). Body length 10.9 – 14.2 mm (holotype 12.0 mm). Head (Figs 4, 5) ratio H: W = 0.84, POL: OOL = 0.63. Clypeal median part dorsally trapeziform, ratio H: W = 0.92 (Fig. 9), concave apically, concavity near 1 / 2 of its length from fore margin. Median part of clypeal free margin slightly doubly notched, with conspicuous lateral angles. Mandibula with two wide teeth in inner edge (Figs 4, 5). Metasoma. T 1 ratio L: W = 0.93 (Fig. 10), apical semitransparent border high (Fig. 11). Pygidial plate L: W = 2.10, slightly shiny, sculpture rugose (brainlike) and prominent (Fig. 21).
